Claims Management Office

I have suffered a personal injury at a TSA checkpoint. What should I do?

If you believe you have suffered an injury at a TSA checkpoint you should report the incident immediately to available TSA personnel. If you become aware of your injury after leaving the checkpoint you should contact the airport TSA Customer Service Manager or Stakeholder Liaison as soon as possible. If you wish to file a claim against TSA you should complete an SF-95, Claim for Damage, Injury, or Death, and submit it to the Claims Management Office.

To facilitate investigation of your claim, your description of the incident should be as detailed as possible including information such as date and time of the incident, the airline you were traveling on and flight number, airport terminal, specific checkpoint location, the names of any TSA and airport personnel involved, and the names and contact information for any other individuals that might have witnessed the incident. You should also submit any records documenting your injury and any expenses you incurred due to your injury. If you choose to have another person to represent you in your claim against TSA, please submit proof of that individual's representative authority. Federal law allows two years from the date of incident to file a legally sufficient claim with a federal agency.
