Nellis AFB, being a leader in energy reduction, has set high goals in making reduction in energy usage a priority during 2008. Nellis AFB current goal is for 100% compliance in the Billeting, Temporary Lodging Facilities and Base Dormitory locations. Nellis AFB was challenged by ACC to participate and complete 100% change out of incandescent lighting in three areas. The Maintenance Engineering team of Mr. Anthony Horsley, a Utilities Specialist, Mr. Jeff Blazi, an Electrical Engineer and Ms. Michelle Price, Base Energy Manager of Maintenance Engineering put together the initial efforts in getting the project off the ground. Projected for completion March 2009, OPERATION CHANGE OUT efforts at Nellis AFB include installation of nearly 9,500 CLFs. Through this effort, Nellis AFB will achieve an annual savings of $66,157 in energy dollars. In addition, we are saving 603 Lbs of CO2 emissions per each 60 Watt incandescent bulb replaced with a CFL.
