Army Hawaii

Army Hawaii is the largest Residential Communities Initiative (RCI) project awarded by the Army, serving more than 20,000 residents. At completion the project will include nearly 7,900 homes at seven different installations and 19 separate sites on the island. Families will enjoy an environmentally-friendly, master planned community that seamlessly integrates residents, homes, amenities and services. Ten community centers will be completed, each one serving as the town center for individual villages. Army Hawaii truly ushers in a new era of sustainable development in the military housing market. Seven megawatts of solar power is expected to provide 15 to 45 percent of resident needs and the recycling of nearly 80 to 90 percent of the materials from demolished homes. In addition, Actus Lend Lease is reusing materials in asphalt and other building materials. The partnership is also allying with several prestigious environment groups to find ways to preserve mature trees.
