AFSOC - Hurlburt Field

Hurlburt Field is located on 6,634 acres in Okaloosa County within the Florida Panhandle. The installation is about 35 miles east of Pensacola, is bordered by the city of Mary Esther and Santa Rosa Sound, and Eglin AFB's reservation. There are approximately 7,813 active duty, 9,929 family members (living on/off base), and 1,069 civilians working and/or living on Hurlburt Field. Hurlburt Field is the home of Headquarters (HQ) AFSOC and is one of only two installations in this Major Command. The AFSOC mission is to organize, train, equip and educate Air Force special operations forces for worldwide deployment and assignment to regional unified command for conducting unconventional warfare, direct action, special reconnaissance, counterterrorism, foreign internal defense, humanitarian assistance, psychological operations, personnel recovery, and counternarcotics.
