AETC Charleston AFB

The 437th Airlift Wing (437 AW) is a wing of the United States Air Force based out of Charleston Air Force Base, South Carolina. The installation encompasses approximately 3,733 acres and includes over 1,400 facilities. Charleston AFB is the first home to the C-17 Globemaster III aircraft. Charleston AFB and the 437th Airlift Wing provide a significant mission support capability to the U.S. militarys global commitment. The mission of the 437 AW is to command assigned airlift and supporting units; provide for the airlift of troops and passengers, military equipment, cargo and aeromedical airlift and to participate in operations involving the airland or airdrop of troops, equipment and supplies when required. Our wing has four operational groups consisting of 21 squadrons and one wing staff directorate. We also host the 315th Airlift Wing (Air Force Reserve) and 17 tenants.
