Abstract:Commander Qualicia is a cartoon character created for an on-line training course that describes the quality system for the National Exposure Research Laboratory. In the training, which was developed by the QA staff and graphics/IT support contractors, Commander Qualicia and the Space Ship (SS) Quality Assurance (QA) take a journey involving 5 planetary stop-overs that coincide with 5 modules about the NERL quality system. For this presentation, Commander Qualicia will take us on a journey through significant events that occurred over the course of the last year to the NERL QA program. At Stop 1, key features of our recently approved Integrated Information and Quality Management Plan will be described. At Stop 2, the development, management and contents of our Quality Home Page will be presented. At Stop 3, QA training materials, recently developed, will be outlined. At Stop 4, a building-wide automated system for monitoring temperature controlled devices will be explained. Lastly, at Stop 5, the unique role played by a NERL QA Manager in a program peer review will be highlighted. The journey will conclude with a few remarks about future QA initiatives.
