To help in the interpretation of results, NAEP uses NCES guidelines when reporting results. NAEP does not recommend the reporting of scale score results for groups of students represented by less than 62 students in NAEP samples. NAEP also identifies results when the mean square error is large. Results that are flagged for this reason should be interpreted with caution.
