The State of Alabama is committed to improving the energy efficiency of government and educational facilities throughout the state. The state has a Local Government Energy Loan Program (LGELP) which provides low-cost revolving loans for energy efficiency projects undertaken by local governments in rural areas. Public schools in rural areas are also eligible and are encouraged to participate in this program.
