Perhaps you can easily see where the edge of the subway platform is and
therefore know how far back to stand to keep from getting bumped, even
accidentally, into the rail pit. I am blind so I can't see the danger just one
foot adjustment away. Too many people have already died, even some fully sighted
ones, because there was no detectable warning at the edge of the platform.
Please consider making detectable tactile warnings a reality. They will help ALL
of us.
Traffic lights are equally dangerous to me. It is worse for us in small towns
where there might not be an engine idling to hear, and then guess, when it is
safe to cross. If there were an accessible pedestrian signal, I wouldn't be
making drivers angry, as well as being in greater danger, by trying to cross at
the wrong time.
accessible Pedestrian signals would assist drivers of all ages as well as those
of us who can't see.
Thank you.
