When there are places such as medians or islands where there are no other detectable markings, Detectable Warning Strips could be of use: however, in most cases, proper use of a cane or dog guide should provide quite adequate warning for the blind traveler.
If it is decided that there needs to be audible Traffic signals on almost
every corner, I feel, this would be a tremendous waste of limited funds. The
funds which would be allocated to these projects might be more effectively used
for a widespread educational program to better inform both drivers and
pedestrians of proper safety rules.
