Senior Leadership Development Program 2
Program Background
The second phase of the Senior Leadership Development Program (SLDP2) is seeking up to 60 participants for those seeking advancement as Assistant Federal Security Directors (AFSD) at the K band level. This program and new target positions were approved by the TSA Executive Resources Council (ERC) as part of the agencies Succession planning program. The SLDP2, along with our other leadership programs, ensures that we accomplish our important mission and advance our goal of becoming a highly effective and agile organization, and an employer of choice.

SLDP2 Program Highlights
- SLDP2 is an 8-12-month leadership development program on focuses on developing competencies and skills for those aspiring to be an AFSD at the K band level.
- Four Career Development Tracks:
- AFSD / Operations
- AFSD / Screening
- AFSD / Regulatory Inspections
- AFSD / Generalists
- Intensive Program Components:
- 360-degree assessment at the beginning and end of the program
- An individual development plan (IDP), based in part on the initial assessment
- Mentoring by senior leadership
- At least two temporary assignments (e.g., one 30-day and one 60-day assignment)
- Short learning activities, such as a shadowing experience
- Participation in an Action Learning Project
- Formal classroom leadership training
Applicant Qualifications
To be eligible for participation in the second phase of the Senior Leadership Development Program (SLDP2), all applicants must:
- be a current, permanent, full-time TSA employee
- have been with TSA as a full-time federal employee for at least two years as of March 5, 2007
- be in a J or K-Band position or individuals who do not currently occupy a J or K Band position, but previously occupied a J or K Band position, are eligible for participation in SLDP2. (Note: temporary promotions to J or K Band positions are not eligible.)
- have at least a total of two years permanent supervisory experience that is clearly documented on the applicants resume (either within or outside the federal government).
- All program participants must agree to participate fully in the program orientation which is expected to be four days during the week of June 24-30, 2007.
