ERIC Announces Digitization Project
December 1, 2006
The ERIC full-text microfiche collection of 339,000 titles (1966-1992) will be digitized by the ERIC contractor, Computer Sciences Corporation, working with the National Archive Publishing Company (NAPC). The project includes digitizing the microfiche documents and obtaining permission from copyright holders to release the materials electronically. Digitized files will begin to be available in 2007, with the work of this special project completed by March 2009.
As soon as copyright clearance has been received for each digitized, full-text document, the item will be posted in the ERIC database at www.eric.ed.gov. The entire ERIC digitized collection will be available through the Department of Education's National Library of Education on interlibrary loan.
NAPC will soon be contacting copyright holders for permission to disseminate the full text of these older ERIC materials online. Check the ERIC Web site later in December for information on how to grant copyright permission.
