ERIC Introduces Search Enhancements

June 24, 2005

ERIC has improved features available in the Basic and Advanced Search interfaces, and has expanded search result viewing options. Searchers can now construct nested Boolean searches using the AND, OR, and NOT operators in both Basic and Advanced Search. ERIC has also simplified the Advanced Search interface by merging the descriptor field with the list of pre-selected fields. The merger will help users better focus their searches to obtain more targeted results. Searchers can still access the ERIC Thesaurus at the Thesaurus tab to identify descriptors and initiate descriptor searches. ERIC is also providing new metadata for materials published 2004 and forward, including educational level, peer-reviewed status of journals, and reference count.
