Intercity Bus Security Grant Program FY 2006

Grants Programs FY 2006

The IBSGP provides funding to support operators of fixed route intercity and charter bus services. It is one of five grant programs in the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Infrastructure Protection Program, which is designed to strengthen the nation's critical infrastructure against risks associated with terrorism.

DHS works collaboratively with our security partners to implement grant programs that reduce risks to our nation’s transportation systems. Here’s how.

The purpose of the FY 2006 IBSGP was to create a sustainable program to protect intercity bus systems and the traveling public from terrorism, especially explosives and non-conventional threats that would cause major loss of life and severe disruption.

The FY 2006 IBSGP provides $9,503,000 to the owners/operators of fixed route intercity and/or charter bus services that operate over-the-road buses.
