The Transportation Security Administration is always expanding and building upon its layers of security, most recently through a course in Crew Member Self-Defense in Long Beach, Calif.

TSA, partnering with Los Angeles Harbor College, used a training center near Long Beach Daugherty Field to teach students basic self-defense moves and tactics. Later in the day students moved to an MD-80 aircraft training fuselage, custom made for real-world training.

"We had a blast," wrote Lynn Millard, an Alaska Air Line flight attendant. "We all really enjoyed the training."

To date some 2,000 flight attendants have attended the TSA-funded training.
