I'm writing in opposition to your proposed regulations regarding the textured
crosswalks and audible traffic signals. I feel that they would be annoying at
best and dangerous at worst. The audible traffic signals do not allow listening
to traffic which could put you in a dangerous situation. If you are paying
attention to sounds and not traffic patterns your life would be at risk. In
regards to textured pavement it is often slippery when pavement is wet from snow
and ice so therefore can be very dangerous. To conclude, I feel it would be
detrimental to blind regarding employment possibilities and the image that could
be assumed by thinking these are helpful to us the blind.
Sincerely,
Mary Grunwald
