Examples of Proper Postings

Remember to ask specific and complete questions. Include issues related to funding, collaboration and communication, and steps already taken. For example, don't ask "Does anyone know anything about truancy prevention?" Instead, ask—

Does anyone know about starting a truancy prevention program in a medium-sized city? We have a growing problem and we have started preliminary talks with one neighborhood school. There seems to be some interest among residents in setting this as a priority. We have $5,000 to use. What should we do next?

In answering a question or providing a comment, be informative and helpful. For example, don't just say, "Great idea, you should really talk to more schools." Instead, say—

Great idea, you should talk to more schools, the Department of Education, and other school-related organizations. Perhaps hold an open neighborhood meeting to discuss and involve educators, law enforcement agencies, courts, communities, and families. Also, focus on partnership-building strategies.
