Proposals for Doctoral Dissertation Research Improvement Grants submitted to the Methodology, Measurement, and Statistics Program must comply with or have information about the following bulleted items:
- Target Date: January 16 and August 16
- Project Duration : Maximum of 24 -month period
- Project Budget : The maximum amount that will be awarded for doctoral research is $12,000.
- Proposal Title should read, "Doctoral Dissertation Research.”
- Project Description must not exceed 10 single pages. But the Results from Prior Support section are not required. Appendices (e.g., survey instruments) are not allowed, but letters of cooperation from labs or foreign institutions may be included in the Supplementary Documentation section. Biographical sketches should be submitted for both the dissertation advisor and graduate student. The biographical sketch for the graduate student should include a statement regarding the student's current academic status and degree progress. Do not submit transcripts or letters of reference.
- The proposal must be submitted by an U.S. university on behalf of the dissertation advisor and graduate student who is at the point of initiating or already conducting dissertation research. The major professor should be listed as the Principal Investigator. The dissertation student may be listed as the Co-Principal Investigator . The student must be enrolled at a U.S. institution but need not be a U.S. citizen.
- All proposals must be submitted electronically via Fastlane.
- Proposers are reminded to identify the program announcement/solicitation number (04-504) in the program announcement/solicitation block on the proposal Cover Sheet. Compliance with this requirement is critical to determining the relevant proposal processing guidelines. Failure to submit this information may delay processing.
