Gutierrez Statement on Employment Report
WASHINGTON—Commerce Secretary Carlos M. Gutierrez today released the following statement on the June Employment Report, which showed 121,000 jobs were created and the unemployment rate held at 4.6%, the lowest rate in five years.
"Today's employment numbers release continues to show the positive results of the President's economic policies. With President Bush's pro-growth economic agenda, more than 5.4 million jobs have been created since August 2003. That is more jobs than the total populations of Wyoming, Vermont, North Dakota, Alaska, South Dakota, Delaware and the District of Columbia combined.
"Our economy is strong, and we will continue to move forward with the President's agenda of lower taxes, affordable health care, and comprehensive immigration reform that provides for secure borders, interior enforcement, and a temporary worker program that allows jobs to be filled when there are no available American workers."
