AI/AN students score lower in all regions than non-AI/AN peers
NIES regions are based on U.S. Census divisions and are configured to align with the overall distribution of the AI/AN student population. The results are based on samples from students enrolled in all types of schools (public, private, Bureau of Indian Education (BIE), and Department of Defense). Findings
- AI/AN fourth-graders in each region scored lower than non-AI/AN students.
- AI/AN fourth-graders in the Mountain region scored significantly lower than AI/AN fourth-graders in all other regions.
- AI/AN fourth-graders in the Atlantic and South Central regions scored higher than AI/AN students in all other regions.
