Washington (June 26)—At a White House press conference, President George W. Bush highlighted a number of key issues awaiting Congressional action including the Colombia free trade agreement. He said, “The Congress needs to act when it comes to the Colombia free trade agreement. This is a good deal for our economy. Secretary Gutierrez to Lead CAFTA-DR Business Development Mission

Washington (June 12)—U.S. Commerce Secretary Carlos M. Gutierrez announced he will lead a business delegation of U.S. exporters on a business development mission to the Dominican Republic, Nicaragua and Costa Rica, Sept. 28-Oct. 4, 2008. The mission will promote U.S. exports and investment and highlight regional opportunities that the Dominican Republic-Central America-United States Free Trade Agreement (CAFTA-DR) has created since its implementation in 2006. Under Secretary Padilla Urges Costa Rican Approval of Pending Trade Legislation

Washington (June 5)—Under Secretary Christopher A. Padilla meets with Costa Rican Minister of Trade Marco Vinicio Ruiz to discuss progress of CAFTA-DR implementation. Padilla urged the Costa Rican National Assembly to quickly approve the pending trade legislation so that Costa Rica can join CAFTA-DR. (CAFTA-DR)
