NSF Congressional Highlight
Committee Chair Named
January 12, 2001
Rep. Sherry
Boehlert, (R-NY) has been named Chairman of the
House Committee on Science. Rep. Boehlert has been
a member of the Committee on Science since first coming
to Congress in 1981.
The House Republicans also announced the committee
membership for the 107th Congress and six new members
have joined the House Science Committee. The Republican
membership of the committee is as follows (new members
in italics):

FY 2001 BUDGET ADJUSTMENT
The final budget action of the 106th Congress, signed
into law by the President on December 21, included
a $1 billion across-the-board cut in 12 of the 13
appropriations bills. For NSF, this amounts to a 0.22
percent ($9.74 million) reduction in its $4.426 billion
appropriation.
