How do I obtain a deferment?

  • The easiest method for obtaining a deferment is to walk through the online process located in the Forms section of our Web site. Through this option, you will be asked a series of questions to determine your eligibility for a particular deferment. If you are eligible, the deferment form will be populated with your responses to the questions and personal information necessary for your form to be processed. Once the form is completed, sign and mail to the Servicing Center.
  • Also, you can request a deferment form by email or through our Voice Response Unit (VRU). To email your deferment request, click the Contact Us link found at the bottom of any page once you logon with your PIN or contact our Servicing Center VRU at 1-800-848-0979*.

Once the deferment is received and if it is properly completed, it will be applied to your loan in 5-7 business days. You will receive a confirmation notice in the mail once it has been applied to your loan or a rejection notice if the form was incomplete.
