National Council on the Arts Members

Patrick J. Tiberi (U.S. House of Representatives, R-OH)

Patrick Tiberi was appointed to serve on the National Council on the Arts for the 110th Congress by Minority Leader John Boehner. Representative Tiberi also served on the Council in the 109th Congress. Representative Tiberi is serving his fourth term in the House representing Ohio’s 12th District consisting of the eastern half of Columbus and suburban counties to the north and east of the city. He is a member of the House Ways & Means Committee, which oversees issues such as taxes, Social Security, Medicare, trade, and healthcare. He sits on the Oversight Subcommittee and is a Ways & Means designee to the House Budget Committee. In October 2006, President Bush signed legislation written by Rep. Tiberi, called the Older Americans Act Amendments, which reauthorized and improved programs for the nation’s older adults. Before coming to Washington, Tiberi served in the Ohio House of Representatives (1993-2000), where he rose to the position of Majority Leader. Previously, he served as an assistant to Congressman John Kasich and worked as a Realtor. A native of Columbus, Tiberi received a B.A. in Journalism from Ohio State University, where he played the trumpet in the OSU Marching Band.
