Stephen Porter (Washington, DC)

Stephen Porter is Senior Counsel at Arnold and Porter law firm and former chair of the Washington Performing Arts Society (WPAS), a major arts presenter in the Washington region, where he has been actively involved for more than 20 years. Since 1999, he has been chair of the WPAS Endowment Committee, and he also was a key sponsor of the 2006-07 season opening celebration at the Kennedy Center. During his tenure at WPAS, Porter has been a driving force behind the Concerts in Schools program, which brings artists and musicians to underserved schools to teach arts appreciation. He also has been widely involved in the Embassy Adoption Program, which fosters relationships between embassies and schools to help children learn about the arts and cultures of other countries. In addition, he is involved in many other civic and community organizations in the Washington area, where he has forged partnerships among the region's business, education, and arts communities.
