Mark Hofflund (Boise, ID)

Mark Hofflund (Boise, ID) is the managing director of the Idaho Shakespeare Festival. He has been associated with the festival since 1993, working with 12 board presidents in leading community efforts to secure the first permanent home for the organization and its production facilities. He continues to be the liaison with the Idaho Foundation for Parks and Lands and the Idaho Department of Parks and Recreation, whose partnership made construction of a 700-seat amphitheater and 12-acre reserve possible. He and artistic director Charles Fee have guided the Idaho Shakespeare Festival through a six-fold increase in annual operations, a doubling of both mainstage audiences and students served through statewide educational tours, and a merger with Idaho Theater for Youth. In addition, Hofflund has served on the boards of the San Diego Performing Arts League, Shakespeare Theatre Association of America, Boise City Arts Commission, and Boise Convention and Visitors Bureau. Since 2001, he has chaired the Idaho Commission on the Arts. He started his career as an actor, assistant director, and dramaturgical associate at San Diego’s Old Globe Theatre. He received his A.B. in English from Princeton University and an M.F.A. from the Professional Theater Training Program at the University of California, San Diego.
