The Fire Education Team materials were developed by the Department of
the Interior in response to changes in our understanding, application and
management of wildland fire. Topics include wildland fire ecology, fire
behavior, fire suppression, recreational and home fire safety, wildland/urban
fire protection and more. Due to their popularity, we are happy to make
them available to a larger audience.
The "Fire's Role in Nature" poster series has won national awards and
recognition for outstanding graphics and educational merit. A variety of
regional and national materials depicting the natural fire cycle are available.
These products will help our customers meet their broader fire education
needs. Many of the products are geared for use by teachers in the classroom.
The Fire Education Team provides educational products for elementary ages,
and the Fire Role in Nature series can be used for teenagers and adults.
The materials complement the Smokey Bear fire prevention campaign. Smokey's
message and lessons about taking personal responsibility to prevent unwanted
fires are a vital link in our overall fire education responsibilities.
