National Water Quality
  • National Water Quality Inventory: 1998 Report to Congress.
    Biennial report prepared under Section 305(b) of the Clean Water Act summarizes state-reported water quality conditions in streams, lakes, estuaries, wetlands, coastal waters, and ground water.

  • National Watershed Forum
    The Forum was an unprecedented event designed to give voice to geographically, politically, and culturally diverse organizations interested in protecting and restoring aquatic resources through geographically based partnerships.

  • Atlas of America's Polluted Waters.(May, 2000)
    Provides a map of each state depicting surface waters that do not meet state water quality standards, as reported under Section 303(d) of the Clean Water Act.

  • Liquid Assets 2000: America's Water Resources at a Turning Point. (PDF, 888k) (May, 2000)
    Provides a snapshot of the economic value of clean water, the problems we face in the new millennium, and the actions we must take to protect and restore the nation's water resources.

  • Drinking Water Infrastructure Needs Survey
    The 1996 SDWA Amendments directed EPA to conduct a survey of the infrastructure needs facing public water systems every four years - with the first report published in 1997. The second survey released in 2001 estimates that drinking water systems will need to invest $150.9 billion over a 20 year period to ensure the continued provision of safe drinking water.
