U.S. Industrial R&D Performers Report Increased R&D in 1998

This Data Brief focuses on statistics from the 1998 Survey of Industrial Research and Development. It presents statistics on levels and sources of industrial R&D support for manufacturing and nonmanufacturing industries, highlighting the funding of R&D from companies' own resources. Tables containing current and constant dollar estimates of total industrial R&D and its component sources, estimates of company-funded R&D by industry and size of company, and a chart detailing historical trends of company and other non-Federal funds as a percent of net sales are also included.
