NCES 2009302 Documentation to the NCES Common Core of Data Public Elementary/ Secondary School Universe Survey: School Year 2006–07 Version 1a
The 2006-07 Common Core of Data (CCD) nonfiscal school survey data files provide a listing of all schools providing free public elementary and secondary education, along with basic descriptive statistical information on each school listed. The data were submitted to NCES by state education agencies (SEAs) in the 50 states, the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico, the four outlying areas (American Samoa, Guam, the Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands, and the U.S. Virgin Islands), the Department of Defense (DoD) dependents schools (overseas and domestic), and the Bureau of Indian Education (BIE).

NCES 2009024 National Household Education Surveys Program of 2001-07 Electronic Codebook, Public-Use Data Files, and User's Manuals
Two surveys were fielded in 2007 as part of the National Household Education Surveys Program (NHES): the School Readiness Survey (SR) and the Parent and Family Involvement in Education Survey (PFI). Three surveys were fielded in 2005: the Early Childhood Program Participation (ECPP), the After-School Programs and Activities (ASPA), and the Adult Education (AE) surveys. The 2003 collections were the Parent and Family Involvement (PFI) and the Adult Education for Work-Related Reasons (AEWR) surveys. Three surveys were also fielded in 2001 as part of NHES. These were earlier versions of the 2005 collections and include the Adult Education and Lifelong Learning Survey (AELL), the Before- and After-School Programs and Activities Survey (ASPA), and the Early Childhood Program Participation Survey (ECPP). The data, data documentation, and software to help search through and convert the data from these surveys into SPSS, SAS, or STATA files are available on CD. Data files and documentation can also be downloaded directly from this website.

NCES 2008491 NAEP 2007 National and State Mathematics Assessments (Grade 4) Restricted-Use Data Files
This CD-ROM contains data and documentation files for the NAEP 2007 mathematics assessments for use in the analysis of NAEP data by secondary researchers. The national and state mathematics assessments were conducted at grades 4 and 8. The grade 8 data are available on a separate CD-ROM (see NCES 2008492). A Data Companion is provided in electronic portable document format (PDF). This document contains information on the contents and use of the data files as well as the assessment design and its implications for analysis. NAEP datasets from 2002 onward require a Tool Kit with the updated NAEPEX. Your organization must apply for and be granted a restricted-use data license in order to obtain these data.

NCES 2008342 Documentation for the NCES Common Core of Data Pilot Teacher Compensation Survey (TCS), Restricted-Use Data File, School Year 2005–06
This restricted-Use Data File contains teacher level data from the Pilot Teacher Compensation Survey, School Year 2005-06. This is a research and development effort to collect individual salary and demographic data on public school teachers. Seven states participated in this effort: Arizona, Arkansas, Colorado, Florida, Iowa, Missouri, and Oklahoma. Data include base salary, total salary, highest degree earned, years of teaching experience, NCES school and agency IDs, race gender and age data.

NCES 2008483 NAEP High School Transcript Study 2005 Restricted-Use Data File
This CD-ROM contains data from the NAEP 2005 High School Transcript Study (HSTS), which was conducted in conjunction with the National Assessment of Educational Progress (NAEP). An Electronic Code Book (ECB); restricted-use data on high school courses; student and school demographics; and technical information for using, analyzing and interpreting the data, are included on the CD-ROM. This data file and ECB will be most useful for secondary researchers interested in high school course offerings, student course-taking patterns, and the relationship of these variables to student achievement, as measured by the NAEP 2005 Mathematics and Science assessments.

This data file and documentation contain finance data for public elementary and secondary education at the school district level, for fiscal year 2006, and school year 2005-06. Revenues are reported by source, and expenditures are reported by function and object. Student membership data are also included. Data are submitted to NCES by state education agencies.

Included in the manual are the following: an overview of the study and its predecessor studies; an account of instrumentation; a summary of the data collection methodology and results, including detailed response rates; a description of data preparation and processing activities; and an overview data file structure and contents. In addition, there are a number of appendices. The ALS: 2006 provides information pertinent to libraries at 3,600 degree-granting postsecondary educational institutions throughout the 50 states, and the District of Columbia.
