The focus of the conference will be on current GOES and POES data access, distribution, and preparing users for the upcoming changes to NOAA satellite programs. Users will be presented with information on APT, HRPT, GVAR, ARGOS DCS, GOES DCS, LRIT, EMWIN, GEONETCast Americas and other NOAA systems. The conference will also review the upcoming GOES-R and NPOESS Programs.

The National Council for Science and the Environment (NCSE) will hold the 9th National Conference for Science, Policy and the Environment: Biodiversity in a Rapidly Changing World at the Ronald Reagan Building and International Trade Center in Washington, DC. The conference will develop and advance science-based solutions to address the challenge the changing world poses to biodiversity (and to humanity). It combines world-class speakers and discussions with interactive facilitated breakout sessions to develop recommendations for conserving and using biodiversity sustainably, symposia to explore topics in detail, skill-building workshops, posters, a Showcase of Biodiversity Partners, and opportunities to network with colleagues new and old.

Building on the success of its annual scientific meeting, the ArcticNet Network of Centres of Excellence of Canada and its national and international partners are welcoming the international Arctic research community to Quebec City for the International Arctic Change 2008 Conference. Coinciding with the pinnacle of the International Polar Year and the 400th anniversary of Quebec City, Arctic Change 2008 welcomes researchers, students, policy makers and stakeholders from all fields of Arctic research and all countries to address the global challenges and opportunities brought by climate change in the circum-Arctic. With over 600 participants expected to attend, Arctic Change 2008 will be the largest trans-sectoral international Arctic research conference ever held in Canada. |
