2009 AgSTAR National Conference
February 24-25, 2009
Baltimore, Maryland

After a very successful 2007 National AgSTAR Conference in Sacramento, California, we are looking forward to our next national event in Baltimore, Maryland. Interest in manure digesters and associated energy production is increasing, and new issues are arising every day – new technologies, regulatory hurdles, financial incentives.

Last year we had over 300 attendees and 38 exhibitors at the conference in Sacramento, and we expect at least that level of participation in Baltimore. The conference is a must for livestock producers, project developers, regulators, energy professionals, financiers, and others interested in manure digesters and energy projects. The conference is a great place to learn, identify potential projects, and network with others in the industry. We welcome and encourage your participation in this year's conference.

The conference will highlight the latest projects, technologies and financial incentives, and will once again include technical presentations, a conference luncheon, exhibits, and a tour of local manure digesters.

Call for Papers

Deadline Extended: November 15, 2008

If you are interested in being considered as a presenter at the 2009 National AgSTAR Conference, please send in an abstract of no more than 300 words, along with a short bio. Abstracts are due by November 15, 2008. You can submit on any topic you feel is relevant to the manure digester field. We are especially interested in presentations in the following areas: carbon and renewable energy credits, financing manure biogas projects, utility contracts, biogas processing and use, case studies, operator experiences, and co-digestion. Proposals for both oral and poster paper presentations will be considered. Presenters will not be required to prepare written papers, however, EPA would like to post the slide presentations after the conference.

Please send abstracts and bios to Chris Voell (voell.christopher@epa.gov) or call 202-343-9406.

Conference Facility and Hotel

This year's conference will be held at the Baltimore Hilton Exit EPA on February 24-25, 2009. The hotel is currently taking telephone reservations at 1-443-573-8700 for the conference at the per diem rate of $157 single/$182 double, which is available when referencing the "AGS" room block.

Exhibit and Sponsorship Opportunities

We welcome inquiries from potential exhibitors and conference sponsors. This is a perfect opportunity to network with your colleagues, clients, and others interested and involved in manure digesters and associated energy production. In addition to on-site recognition during the conference, logos of exhibitors and sponsors who commit early will be included in conference materials. For more information on exhibit and sponsorship opportunities, contact Katherine Moore (meetings@erg.com) at ERG, to be put on the e-mail list.

Pass the Word!

Please help us spread the news about this conference to colleagues who may be interested in attending. Thank you.
