Transportation Security Officer Valerie Bethune of Memphis (Tenn.) International Airport sees a future with TSA that has "unlimited potential."

"I know that I have the power to influence to a large degree what my future holds," said Bethune, who received an E-Band promotion under TSA's career progression program. "It is up to me to remain fully qualified for future promotional opportunities and I intend to do just that. I take every opportunity to share this view of TSA with my coworkers."

"My short-term goal at TSA is to become a more involved employee," continued Bethune, who joined TSA in 2002. "I plan to accomplish this goal by volunteering for membership on various committees. I have also made a personal commitment to be the best prepared I possibly can, and to become the next lead TSO selected at Memphis."

The promotion was not only financially rewarding, but bolstered Bethune's outlook toward "an organization that offers challenging yet rewarding career opportunities for those who are dedicated and not satisfied with the status quo. I am more committed than ever to the TSA goals and objectives."

The E-Band promotion has whetted her appetite for providing top-notch security for the traveling public while being more focused than ever on "seeking out" situations for extending high caliber customer service.
