Miriam C. Ibrahim, originally a native of Caracas, Venezuela received her Bachelors in Occupational Therapy from University Cecilio Acosta, Venezuela and her MPH from Kansas University School of Medicine, Wichita, Kansas. She worked initially as a traveler Occupational Therapist for three years after moving to United States in 1996. Subsequently she decided to follow her passion for public health and started working for Reno County Health Department, Hutchinson, Kansas, as a Health Educator. Currently she is working as Director of Comprehensive Tobacco Use Prevention program in Saline County, Kansas.
She has published research in Diabetes, Sexual Assault, and Domestic Violence among minorities. She has also received numerous awards including a special award for an outstanding research poster, entitled: "Diabetes Focus Groups in Kansas among Hispanic Meat Packing Plant Workers" at the 2003 National CDC Diabetes Translation Conference in Boston and a special award for outstanding work in Tobacco Prevention from the American Cancer Society.
