Director Gonzalez Welcomes more than 100 new U.S. citizens aboard the historic U.S.S. Intrepid

On Thursday, July 6th, Dr. Emilio Gonzalez, USCIS Director, administered the Oath of Allegiance to more than 100 New York area residents who became United States citizens aboard the historic U.S.S. Intrepid. Alberto Gonzales, U.S. Attorney General, gave the keynote address to the new Americans.

The event is one of many “Celebrate Citizenship, Celebrate America” ceremonies that U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) held around the nation during the week of July 4th. This year, USCIS celebrated our nation’s 230th birthday by welcoming more than 18,000 new American citizens.

During the U.S.S. Intrepid ceremony USCIS Director Gonzalez and U.S. Attorney General, Alberto Gonzales presented Fang A. Wong, Dr. Guillermo Linares, and Marina Belotserkovsky with the "Outstanding American by Choice" certificates.
