Federal Facilities

About this sector

Federal facilities, like other regulated facilities, must comply with environmental laws and regulations. Additionally, federal facilities must comply with Presidential Executive Orders. Part of EPA's mission is to ensure that Federal facilities comply with all environmental regulations and to assist federal facilities in complying with these requirements. This page contains compliance assistance and pollution prevention information specifically designed for federal facilities.

As part of the pollution prevention effort, America observes an annual "America Recycles Day." For more information, go to "America Recycles Day -- a Federal, State and Local Partnership."Exit Disclaimer

Additional information on general pollution prevention topics can be found at EPA's Pollution Prevention site and the Office of Enforcement and Compliance Assurance's (OECA) Pollution Prevention site.

For information on Federal facility bases scheduled for realignment or closure, visit EPA's Base Closures page.

In 2002, EPA and the Veterans Health Administration (VHA) -- a part of the Department of Veterans Affairs -- agreed to work together to improve compliance at VHA facilities around the nation. For more information on joint EPA-VHA projects, see EPA-Veterans Health Administration (VHA), Compliance Assistance Programs.
