Smoke Complaints

If you’re being impacted by smoke or suspect illegal burning, you should notify the appropriate state or local authority. Many agencies have special Complaint Lines or email addresses available to the public. Communicating your concerns and comments about smoke can help local burn managers and air quality specialists learn when a smoke problem is occurring and how best to address it. It’s most helpful to provide specific details (if known), about the date, time, location, and source of the smoke, material being burned, and nature of the concern. While your complaint can be anonymous, providing your name and phone number (or email address) means you can be contacted for additional information if needed and/or provided with a response.
