NSF Talent Inventory for Permanent Program Director Positions

What is this? The National Science Foundation (NSF) has initiated a talent inventory for permanent Program Director, AD-4 positions. This will allow us to streamline the review of applications for these positions which are so critical to our mission. See the full announcement at http://jobsearch.usajobs.opm.gov/ftva.asp?opmcontrol=1224108

What does this mean for applicants? What does this mean for applicants? It's no longer necessary to wait for a specific announced opportunity nor to submit more than a CV (or resume) to be considered; simply send a CV to talentinventory@nsf.gov with your name in the subject line. Your application can be reviewed and considered for specific positions as they become available, since it will already be on file in our inventory. Your application will remain available for consideration throughout the six-month vacancy open period and may continue to be considered for up to 90 days after the closing date.

What does this mean for selecting offices? Rather than advertise each Program Director position individually, selecting offices will have the option to evaluate applications already on file in the Human Resources Management Division (HRM). Using predetermined position-related criteria, applicants who have indicated an interest in the Directorate will be assessed to determine those whose background and skills most closely parallel the needs of the organization; those names and CVs will be forwarded to the selecting official for formal consideration. Candidates not selected will remain in the talent inventory for continued consideration during the vacancy open period and up to 90 days beyond the closing date.

What can I expect (as an applicant)? After we receive your CV, we will send you an acknowledgment email within five business days asking for information regarding availability and the Directorates for which you wish consideration. Within approximately two weeks of receiving your response, a determination of your basic qualifications and eligibility for Program Director will be made. If you are found not qualified or ineligible for consideration, you will be notified via email. If you are found qualified and eligible, we will update your record so that you'll be included in the evaluation for specific jobs, as vacancies occur. If any additional information is required for specific positions, we'll request it via email.

At three months, we'll email you to ensure continued interest. At any time during the six-month vacancy open period, you may update your CV, and the most current one will be used in the evaluation process.

You may contact us directly at awandere@nsf.gov
