How Do I …

FIND FUNDING OPPORTUNITIES?

Recently Announced funding opportunities and those with Upcoming Due Dates are listed on the Specialized Information for the Research and Education Community page. Several tools for finding funding opportunities can be reached from the Funding link in the top navigation bar, including an A-Z Index of Funding Opportunities and an Advanced Funding Search. You can also browse funding opportunities by program area from the Browse Funding Opportunities page.

Program area/directorate home pages also contain lists of Recently Announced funding opportunities and those with Upcoming Due Dates for their specific areas. A list of complete funding opportunities for each program area/directorate is available by clicking on the Funding link in the directorate navigation bar. Use the drop-down list on these pages to display active, currently funded or archived opportunities.

Each division home page contains a list of all active and currently funded activities for that division. You can also click on the Funding Opportunities link in the left column of most division pages to view a list of all funding opportunities for the division. Use the drop-down list on these pages to display active, currently funded or archived opportunities.

FIND DEADLINE AND TARGET DATES?

Proposal deadlines and target dates are listed in the Funding section, on the Upcoming Due Dates page. They are also listed by date on the Events Calendar and appear on the Funding Opportunities lists in each program area/directorate.

FIND DIRECTORATE AND DIVISION HOME PAGES?

The quickest way to access these pages is to click the green Research and Education Community button on the NSF home page. You may also use the Program Areas drop-down list in the green box on the home page.

FIND PUBLICATIONS (INCLUDING FORMS)?

A list of the most recently posted NSF publications is available from the Publications link in the top navigation bar. You can search or browse publications using NSF's Online Document System, which includes all NSF official documents (numbered publications) available in electronic formats (such as HTML, ASCII, and PDF). Documents can be searched for by document type, document number, keyword, or date.

Some Program area/directorate home pages may feature publications in the right column. All directorate and division sites include a link for Publications in the left column. If an individual program has publications associated with it, they will be listed under Related Publications in the right column on the Program Summary page.

FIND NEWS?

The Latest News is available at the top of the center column on the NSF home page. A complete list of news items posted on the site can be accessed by clicking on the News link in the top navigation bar.

Featured News for individual program areas/directorates appears toward the bottom of the center column on each directorate home page. A complete list of news for a directorate is available by clicking the News link in the directorate navigation bar.

You can access news for a division by clicking on the News link in the left column on any division page. If an individual program has news items associated with it, a News link will appear toward the bottom of the right column on the Program Summary page.

FIND EVENTS?

The Events Calendar lists events hosted at NSF, sponsored by NSF and in which NSF is participating. You can use the drop-down list to limit the display to a certain type of event.

Some Program area/directorate and division home pages may feature events for that organization. All directorate and division sites include a link for Events in the left column. If an individual program has events associated with it, an Events link will appear toward the bottom of the right column on the Program Summary page.

LEARN ABOUT NSF?

You can learn about NSF by clicking on the About NSF link in the top navigation bar. This section includes information on NSF at a Glance, Who We Are, What We Do and How We Work. A 5-minute video overview of NSF's mission and focus is also available.

EXPLORE RESULTS OF NSF RESEARCH?

Results of NSF research can be found in the Discoveries section, reached from the Discoveries link in the top navigation bar. Discoveries may be featured at the bottom of some Program area/directorate and division home pages. Discoveries for a particular program area/directorate can be accessed from the Discoveries link in the directorate navigation bar. A list of discoveries for a division is available by clicking on the Discoveries link in the left column on most division pages. If an individual program has discoveries associated with it, a Discoveries link will appear toward the bottom of the right column on the Program Summary page.

FIND SCIENCE STATISTICS ?

Publications, data, and analyses about the nation's science and engineering resources can be found from the Statistics link in the top navigation bar.

LEARN ABOUT THE SCIENCE NSF SUPPORTS?

The Research Overviews, available under News in the top navigation bar and under Site Features on the NSF home page, provide a window into the wide range of science, engineering and education research NSF supports in nearly every field except medicine.

FIND NSF OFFICE PAGES?

NSF office pages can be accessed from the NSF Organizations drop-down list in the home page left column.

FIND STAFF?

NSF staff can be searched for by name using the search box in the left column of the NSF home page. You can also use the Staff Directory in the About section to search or browse for staff. A list of Executive Staff is provided.

A list of program area/directorate or division staff is available on most directorate and division pages from the View Staff link in the left column. The Search Staff link in the left column of most directorate and division pages allows you to search for a staff member in that organization by name.

FIND DEFINITIONS OF TERMS USED ON THE NSF SITE?

The Glossary page, in the About section, provides definitions for many commonly used terms and acronyms.

FIND INFORMATION ON NSF'S BUDGET?

Information about NSF's budget requests and budget appropriations is available under Budget on the About NSF page.

FIND POLICY AND LEGISLATIVE INFORMATION?

To find Policy and Legislative information, look under NSF & Congress on the About NSF page.

Information on NSF's website policies can be reached from the Policies and Important Links, available in the footer of most pages.

FIND EDUCATIONAL MATERIALS?

A complete list of educational opportunities can be found on the Specialized Information For pages, available from the Specialized Information For drop-down list in the green box on the NSF home page and in the NSF Educational Opportunities by Audience section in the right column of each division home page.

Educational opportunities are also listed in the Education and Human Resources Directorate, which can be reached from the Research and Education Community page and the Program Areas drop-down list in the green box on the home page.

Classroom Resources can be reached from the right column of the home page.

FIND JOB OPENINGS AT NSF?

Vacancy announcements are available from the Career Opportunities link under About NSF, both on the home page and in the top navigation bar. You can access a list of job openings for a particular program area/directorate by clicking on the Career Opportunities link in the left column of the directorate home page.

FIND PLUG-INS AND VIEWERS?

Certain third-party applications (such as Adobe Acrobat and Macromedia Flash) are required to view some features on the NSF website. Visit the Plug-ins and Viewers page for links to free plug-ins and viewers.

SEARCH THE NSF SITE?

The Search function is found in the upper right-hand corner of most pages, and Search has been expanded and improved. Clicking the green arrow will search the entire NSF website. You can also limit your search to a particular collection by selecting from the drop-down box. On the Search Results page, you can run your search on different NSF collections by clicking on the tabs for those collections.

USE MyNSF (formerly the Custom News Service)?

MyNSF (formerly the Custom News Service) allows you to sign up for email and RSS notifications of new NSF funding opportunities, news, official NSF documents, and more. Information about this service is available in the MyNSF section.

FIND THE NSF LOGO?

Various versions of the NSF logo are available in both high and low resolution file formats on the NSF Logos page. Guidance on the use of these logos is also available in the Website Policies and Important Links section.

GET DIRECTIONS TO NSF?
