Common Name: green jack
Identification: Miller and Lea (1972); Eschmeyer et al. (1983); Fischer et al. (1995a). Maximum size: 55 cm.
Size: 55 cm.
Native Range: Marine; Santa Cruz Island, Northern Baja and Gulf of California south to Peru, including the Galapagos Islands (Ramirez-Hernández and Gonzales Pages 1976; Miller and Lea 1972; Fischer et al. 1995a).
Nonindigenous Occurrences: Introduced into Salton Sea, California, in 1948 (Walker et al. 1961; Dill and Cordone 1997).
Means of Introduction: Intentionally stocked as forage. Stock was obtained from San Diego, California (Walker et al. 1961; Dill and Cordone 1997).
Status: The introduction failed to produce a viable population and the species is extirpated in the Salton Sea.
Impact of Introduction: Unknown.
