Native Range: Marine waters from the Gulf of St. Lawrence to the Yucatan Peninsula (Bousfield, 1973).

Nonindigenous Occurrences: Established in San Francisco Bay, California; Coos Bay, Oregon; Puget Sound, Washington (Ruiz 2000).
