Greetings Board Members:
My name is Terry Powers of Sligo Creak chapter, in Maryland. I am writing to
propose audible traffic signals and truncated domes. Having these beaps and
chirps at every light will have a big effect on our hearing. I have heard of a
blind person who got hit, using one of these audible signals. Whether that beap
goes off or not, we still have to depend on our hearing to listen and tell us if
the cars are turning. I am also fearful that the signals may not
be working at the same timing as the street lights, so we still need to depend
on our senses.
We still may need to find the need for a few signals. We would
like to use tactual warnings. Having them spaced out will save a great amount of
money that can be used for repairing streets and much, much more.
