Dear ATBCB Members:
I am opposed to the installation of raised truncated domes at curbside that lead
to pedestrian crosswalks. I find that a tactile pattern in the cement slope
affords me more stability with my gait. I use a white cane. The domes are
cumbersome and one more complication in negotiating a designated pathway.
I am also opposed to installation of APS at all signalized intersections in
America. I have learned not to depend on APS as they are not always reliable.
It is irresponsible to mandate that municipalities, already heaving from budget
cuts, install these devices at all signalized intersections. Communities are not
set in stone. Pardon the pun. Technology is changing so quickly that other
systems will provide more and better options.
Thank you for your consideration on these matters.
Sincerely,
Ruth Ann Homan
