Please accept my e-mail as a vote for the safety and
access of those who may be blind and visually Impaired. I am a person with
vision loss. I work full time, attend college part time and am an active member
in several groups, both blind and community organizations.
However, one thing that interfears with my life activities is the fear of
traffic and picking and choosing the streets and areas where I may access public
transportation and/or cross a busy traffic area. I so much want to have those in
a similar position be able to move and go where they wish without the fear and
careful planning in every situation they may have.
People with vision loss deserve the same right of access that the sighted do.
People with vision loss must travel to have any quality of life. Give them a
chance to be free from isolation and desolation. Allow them a chance to go and
do as they need. Give them access by passing / supporting the issues of
pedestrian safety and access concerning public rights of way and pedestrain
accessable crossings.
