To whom it may concern,
The idea of having bells and whistles at every single corner is ludicrous and
would never work under any circumstances. As a disabled person myself, I do ride
both mainline and paratransit for a number of reasons. I am assigned to the
Chicago Transit Authority paratransit division. While it is not part of my job
to ride mainline, I do it occasionally so I can answer questions intelligently
in the office. I think in my mind that, from what I have heard, it will cost
over $1 million to set this system up in Portland, Oregon alone. In New York or
Chicago it would cost billions to set this up. Again, gentlemen, it would not
work.
