Subject: Audible traffic signals and detectable warnings
NO, on "Audible traffic signals" and "detectable warnings"!
The audible traffic crossings are just a noise pollution, if they are near homes
or apartment buildings the 24 hour a day babble becomes a noise pollution.
Blind travelers are capable of recognizing when it is time to cross the street.
The Blind are taught to listen to the traffic and surrounding conditions
enabling them to make safe street crossings. Adding all of this noise will only
confuse the Blind traveler.
The Truncated Domed will also add to the noise pollution and will offer little
help to the Blind traveler.
It is better as the old saying goes "Teach a person to fish and they will be
able to eat for ever". So it is better to have a well educated traveler than
simply put gimikes at intersections only to confuse the issue.
Sincerely
