We have reviewed and concur the comments and recommendations of AASHTO regarding
the Draft Guidelines for Accessible Public Rights-of-Way.
The Public Works Department here at Whidbey Island Naval Air Station has an
interest in the guidelines as we have water and fuel gas pipelines in state
highway rights-of-way controlled by Washington State DOT. In addition, our
facility contains over 10,000 acres with primary and secondary roads. We strive
to comply with the Military Traffic Control Guidelines and the Manual of Uniform
Traffic Control Devices.
Adoption of the proposed guidelines to our facility would result in great
expense and likely reduce the number of needed projects we will be able to
construct with limited funding.
Thank you for your consideration.
Respectfully,
Patrick Beaugard
