Gutierrez Statement on Employment Report
GULFPORT, Miss.—Commerce Secretary Carlos M. Gutierrez today released the following statement on the April Employment Report, which showed 138,000 jobs were created:
"The solid gains in employment last month continue the positive economic growth we have enjoyed for the past few years. More than 5.2 million jobs have been created since August 2003, and about 2 million of those jobs have been created over the past 12 months alone.
"The Bush Administration's pro-growth economic policies have created the right conditions for our vibrant economy. American businesses are creating jobs month after month, workers are earning more, and our economy continues to expand at a healthy rate."
