Skills and educational requirements for employment at AFSRC

Careers in science at AFSRC include research scientists with PhD degrees, support scientists who have Bachelors, Masters, or PhD degrees, and technicians generally having earned Bachelors or Masters degrees. A diversified science program such as that at AFSRC requires research and support scientists with specialized backgrounds in agronomy, soil science, animal science and nutrition, ecology, hydrology, water quality, engineering, biology, plant physiology, microbiology, chemistry, and biochemistry. Scientists possess a wide range of other specialized skills and training in mathematics, statistics, computer modeling, geology, geography, electrical engineering, turf and weed science and entomology. Mastery of English grammar and good writing skills help scientists communicate their findings to other scientists and to the public. Technicians work directly with scientists in the laboratories and in field studies. Technicians posess expertise in fields such as agronomy, soil science, animal science, entomology, chemistry, biology, geology, geography, medical technology, environmental science, forestry, computer science, mathematics, and/or statistics.  All employees should have the ability to work in diverse teams.
