The two management units of the CSRL are Genetics and Precision Agriculture, and Corn Host Plant Resistance Research. Each management unit does cooperative work with Mississippi State University and several other universities, corporations and companies. This is part of the ongoing research effort to fulfill the mission of each of these units.

Partnerships exist between the USDA‑ARS Poultry Research Unit and Mississippi State University's Poultry Science Department as well as College of Veterinary Medicine. Informal partnerships include Cal‑Maine Foods, Inc., Jackson, MS, and Peco Farms, Inc., Gordo AL. Our stakeholders include poultry companies, the National Poultry Improvement Plan, and state poultry regulatory agencies while our customers include individual poultry growers and, of course, the American tax payer.
